Compassion is a charity who seek out some of the world’s most vulnerable children and through individual sponsors provides them with the means to break the cycle of poverty and create a viable future.

In February 2009, Grace Church partnered with Compassion UK to fund the Kairos Child Survival Programme, in Bacolod City, in the Philippines . The programme is run by the Good Shepherd Church and provides about 60 places, giving pregnant mothers medical checkups and a safe birthing experience. After birth, the programme ensures that the infants are immunised and that their growth and development is carefully monitored with regular health screenings up until the age of four.

When children are about four, they leave the Child Survival Programmes and go into a Sponsorship program, where Compassion works with local churches, to ensure the children receive education, healthcare, a balanced nutritional diet, social support and Bible based teaching.

“We might not be able to change the world, but we can change the world for one child”, and so far Grace Church has changed the world for 130 children in the Philippines through sponsorship with Compassion.
